And that right there is one reason why a themed pet has to be stunning before I'll mess with it. If I don't have at least three potential, viable mates for one, I won't go near it...they accumulate too fast and my stables are full of breeders already. Goodness, you sound frustrated...one of the other reasons I don't mess with them much is because they tend to be dull colored and very boring.
