Storm winced as another explosion sounded. The air felt like pins on her face as Kria sprinted through the streets of the city, her tongue lolling out of her mouth, Storm and Heath on her back. "What's going on?"

Heath shook his head, the confusion evident on his face. "I don't know... what do you think's happening?"

Shen: Boat to Amaya Tsu: Active

I stared over the water and growled. Tsu did the same, restlessly turning circles. "Calm yourself." I set a hand on his shoulder and he gave a slight grumble of a purr. My sword bounced on my thigh as I tilted the lantern staff towards the beach. The sky was grey with storms. No wonder Tsu was nervous. I lightly jumped off the prow, and Tsu grabbed the boat prow with his teeth, pulling it up to the sand. I threw the lantern on the boat, and it broke, flames licking the watertight oils on the wood.

Pulling my cloak tighter, Tsu allowed me to mount his broad shoulders. Into the cave we went. "Huh. Kyung was being honest. There's actually supplies in here." I sparked a small piece of tinder to flames and curled up. After the second devourerer, I had given up war. I would not fight against this third. I saw what happened to my city. Never again.

Suddenly footsteps. It had to be guards. Conquerors. I almost gasped at the green fabric billowing by me. Impossible.

Kria slowed to a stop, and Storm leaped off her back, pulling Heath with her. They were not prepared for what they saw next-

The marketplace was chaos.

Booths were tossed aside, people were screaming and fleeing the scene, and items were strewn across the cobblestone street. Usually, Storm would have taken this as an opportunity... but now something was wrong. What were they running away from?

Her question was answered when she saw five hooded figures with their spirit animals beside them. One had a coyote, another had a hyena, two had snakes, and the last was beside a roaring mountain lion. They all were staring at a girl with long, dark hair and skin as pale as porcelain: the basic Zhongese features.

Heath ran at the hooded figures at once. He launched himself in the air, Kanei landing beside him on the mountain lion as he wrangled it's master.

I waited for them to pass and continued to the town. Kyung promised the buyer would be here. People were running in the opposite direction. Some stared at me. Others shied away. I gripped Tsu's fur as he darted further.

My hood concealed my face. We came to a dark alley and I asked Tsu to grant me strength. I would break the mold of natural bonds being dangerous. Tsu and I had trained nonstop. We would be the best. We scrabbled up to a roof to see hooded figures and maybe two people with animals fighting. I didn't intervene, but when Tsu's tail twitched and he roared, I grinned, drawing Healer, a family sword supposedly blessed by Jhi. A bunch of nonsense, but it made for a cool story.

I hopped down from the roof, Tsu vanishing into my numerous tattoos. The three stories should have hurt me, but it didn't. Woo! The dramatic effect was awesome. I pulled down my hood and pointed my sword. "Greetings." Tsu reappeared on top of the Euran lady in front of us. Her snake sprang it's coiled head towards me, and my sword quickly sliced it in two. Tsu backed away from the lady.

I was unharmed. One point for Shen,zero for the lame-o conquerors. Then the coyote jumped at me, and I had to roll away to avoid it's spit-slathered jaws.

Storm watched the other figure- the one with the green cloak- launch herself at the foes alongside her snow leopard. She and the majestic beast fought well, fending off the attackers with swift moves and blocks.

Storm joined in, Kria growling and snapping at the two snakes. Their masters were lithe and agile, but they lacked in the strength that Kanei had. Halfway through the battle, Heath appeared at her side, he and the black bear having fought off the hyena and the mountain lion.

Quickly, they sent the two other summoners running, and they began to help the other hooded figure with the coyote.

Shen isn't a green cloak, hers is black.

I launched off the ground and parried one lung. Tsu pinned the coyote in seconds. The man, however, swung his axe at me and I dropped to dodge. Luckily, the momentum of the heavy weapon gave me a chance to strike. I struck him it's my hand in the chest and he fell. I held my sword close to his neck. "Yield. Call your beast into its dormant state or my leopard will rip out its throat." I grinned slightly, breaking my solemn expression.

The man scrambled backwards as the coyote was sucked back into a tattoo on his shoulder. He almost got away, but was tripped by Storm at the last second. She looked down at him, her eyebrows raised with a bored look, even though her emotions told her otherwise.

Kria stepped over the man as Heath and Storm watched the hooded figure. Kanei was willed back into his dormant state.
