I think you have a great minimalist comic strip like art style. I wouldn't short change yourself by calling it bad. It's anthropomorphic and different and can lend itself to comic frames very well. Perhaps, consider re-packaging, or re-labeling the That Derpy Gamer Girl Brand for comic art style?

As for the chibi and other stylized things, dA has plenty of tutorials to help practice with.

I don't really know how to get or make comic templates, and I don't have access to layers either...

My art just isn't cut out to be anything other than half baked, isn't it.

There are several out there digitally speaking. Two freewares that provde both layers and excellent tutorials that I have used are GIMP and Krita. If you are new I would probably recommend GIMP first, Krita is really big and requires a lot of memory. But GIMP you can learn most of it through the tutorials in about a day. Though I admit, the masking tutorial I found a bit odd.

GIMP is actually a photo modifying program, but the tutorial will show you how to use it to draw and work with layers really well. In fact there are a lot of folks that use GIMP to quicktime YouTubes for making mlp charaters; with the paths tool, very handy thing that is.
