I love how the ice creams are international! It's nice to see diversity represented when possible, and having themes like these would be a nice step in that direction. ^^

However, Imperium's points hold weight. I do think there's a reason why the old item art is used year after year (ie ingredient art for winter, flower art for spring), and it's because it saves money. With all those icons, you can keep the themes and change around the species, giving an indefinite amount of themes every year without having to commission more item art. (The art can also be used for other things like forum games, like the Festival Wars or Sudokus)

So my opinion's similar to Entropy's: It'd be cool to see this in a festival farther out from now, when the admins feel ready to give the summer festival a fresh concept. But for now, the priorities are heavily into other things that Imperium listed. (There hasn't been monthly items since last year, and none of Sylestia's other features have gotten added content.)

I don't think program coordinating and new ideas aren't as difficult to come up with as the resources are. Behind a festival's concepts is a shopping list of art and features to code. It's more cost efficient and time efficient to reuse art and already-coded features, otherwise, if time and money weren't problems, there'd be more content.

I'm sure Sylestia's community and the suggestion forums have a bunch of great ideas to make the site more fun and fresh, but like most of the suggestions, some are planned in the works, some are considered, and some are just hopes. For now, I'm sure the admins are taking one thing at a time, and that includes allocating resources towards their goals, which at the moment are Ny'venes and Mega Zone.
Realistically, getting new art for this festival would be a little too late especially with their current workload, which is why I think that this sort of idea would be cool to see a year or 2 from now, when Sylestia potentially has worked through the goals it had set before, and have more resources to allocate towards new content. ^^

It's not a bad idea, and I think would be cool to use it at some point, but the main problem I see with it (besides what others have pointed out) is that it would basically be a replication of the winter fest. Each fest having its own little gimmick keeps them from feeling repetitive and overdone.

If the pet-making formulas for each of the fests were shifted around so that summer had the recipes and winter did something else, the ice creams would be a really great summer alternative to baking. I don't know what we'd be doing instead during winter fest, though. Ice fishing? Building snow Sylestis? Gathering boxes and wrapping paper to swap gifts with other Sylestians? I forgot what it took to make a fish Sylesti other than fishing, lol.
