I think 7yrs would just be insane, like I know it's supposed to reward active users but it's super destructive and somewhat depressing to lose a 3yr chain lol.

I can see this being a title, but anything rewarding more than a month chain is a bit much to keep up. It'd also depend what kind of reward (other than a title) would be given, but I wouldn't want it to be game breaking.

It would be good to have something like this for when the game has more content. But for now, it might be hard to justify getting on once a day for a year in a row. And I wouldn't want it to be too stressful like "OMG I'm a completionist and I have to log on during [insert actual real life event that prevents you from logging on, IE school exam, pregnancy/hospitalization, unforeseen accidents] so that I don't break my streak".

Because I definitely see this streak thing being more of a stresser than an incentive to play.
Case in point, mojo contests in the past: people the first year felt super stressed and had to stay up during the certain hours that they wanted the exclusive pet from.

Good point. I mean I logg on a lot but sometimes I just can't because most of my free time I have to do my sport and other stuff. That leads to me being off for even weeks at a time. It also wouldn't be fair to those of us who have jobs or children or other reponsibilities. Maybe it should just be a last online icon

I don't think it's a good idea to give rewards out for logging in every day because honestly that would just cause heartbreak - people logging in on days they should be busy IRL, people who's internet go down, what about people who go on vacation? Trying to find someone to log in for them?

You have to remember that people are very passionate about Sylestia and want as much as they possibly can out of it, so if there were a 5+ year streak, people would go for it and that could be destructive. I don't think it's a very healthy option at all for the site.

I think it'd be a better idea, at some point in the future, to have some sort of miniature game that could be played once daily. If there was an option for it to give out unique prizes - a title for example - it would be something to draw people in, but they don't lose anything if they miss a day.

I think it was completely overlooked that I said I didn't think a reward was necessary but only included that in the post because that is what I have seen on other games.

This would be cool, if it was like in most games where it's for beginners, and only for a week. Some games might take it further, and do a daily reward. I think it should be more like "Oh, I get like, 100-1000 gold each day, cool." instead of "Oh, I need to be on this site everyday, no matter if I have somewhere important to be!" I know you said it should be a chain with no awards, but it makes the chain worthless. It would just be a replacement for the "Last Online" mark (? I believe that's what you guys have called it?), and it wouldn't be a very good replacement either, unless it shows how long they've been gone.

Also, I remember someone saying that it would just help attract younger kids to stay on longer. Yes and no. They would stay on once they see they can receive a title, but only a few kids who like to receive titles, and think they're important. But, they would only stay on long enough to take care of there pets and be gone. One of the main points about Sylestia is it's large community, and those kids would miss out if all they cared about is making sure they logged in everyday.

This type of thing can be flawed really quick, but if it feels less like "No, I have to make up 2 years of being on Sylestia!" and felt more like "Oh, I missed a day of gold, oh well.", I think it would be better. This type of thing needs a reward to feel worthy. Otherwise, we are already doing this chain, just without the code for it being implemented on the site.

(Sorry if this seems out of no where and just a random ramble, I just thought I should speak here.)

I imagine we will definitely have something like this for relaunch.

A lot of sites/games now a days utilize this because it's a nice, small, harmless incentive to get a decent chunk of players to log in each and everyday. All it really does is just boost the player base and boost activity.

As long as it doesn't devolve into notices and prizes associated with logging in, it sounds okay imo.

I am wary of prizes and notifications as I've personally never been a fan of 'dailies', rewards for logging in, and the like. Really, I find prizes associated with logging on everyday annoying and equivalent to spam. And I feel like adding this type of feature has turned into an annoying formula for most websites and apps. So I hope it doesn't turn into that.

If we are going to add titles, perhaps for account age, rather than for 'x number of days logged in in-a-row.'

It's interesting to see some negativity regarding these features. I've mostly just seen these on random phone games I play lol - and I've never really felt negative about them. Either I don't care/forget and I miss out on something that I wouldn't of have had the feature not existed, or it makes me just log in and do a few things everyday to grab that daily prize and keep playing, or it's just an added bonus to a game I already enjoy.

Perhaps a better implementation would be reduced frequency? Like once a week rather than once a day?

I understand daily free grabs, like tiny things.
Things actually kinda harmless like 100AP a day (heh remember when we voted once a day on the leaderboard site for that), or 100 scales, or something.

The streak might not be so bad either if it's for something just as small, like 1000 AP or 1000 scales for logging on for a week in a row (or even a title for logging on for a week).
For a year-long streak, that's kinda too much, especially for something that's probably worthwhile to some players, like a title.

For 100AP, or 100 gold, or 100 scales, I'd find it neat to log in every day, but for a year, it isn't as stressful. For a special exclusive title or a special item like a special outfit that's exclusive to a 1+ month or 1 year streak, I'd be determined to get it, but it'd also be stressful to make sure I'm on top of it for month(s) or a year lol.
