"What exactly are you supposed to take a picture of? A baseball player or somethin'?" Casey asked. She motions for the boy to follow her as she walks to the fence that encircled half of the baseball field. She leans down and picks up her baseball bat, before turning and leaning against the fence to wait for his answer.

"Oh, it's fine. The book should dry...." Lorenzo says, flipping quickly through the book again.

"Something like that" can't look her in the eye

She looks to the book "what book is it?"

"Hmph," Casey says, looking at the boy skeptically. Finally she just grinned. "Alright! You can take my picture. Can I see the list for the scavenger hunt?" She asks.

Lorenzo automatically flips the book to the cover. "Scientist biographies," he says reluctantly. He didn't mind being known as a nerd, but he still didn't like it when he was teased for it.

(I changed Casey's age to 14 since every else is in their teens.)

Trace smiles "what is the greatest one you've read so far?"

He hands her the list, the next thing there is on the list is 'something buetiful'

"The one about Nikola Tesla, who's an inventor," Lorenzo replies, glad the girl wasn't mocking him for it.

Casey scans the list. "I don't see why you need a picture of me. None of this matches my description. Unless you want to pass me off for a deer or something." she says, grinning at the thought. "Maybe you could photoshop antlers onto my head."

He blushes "oh, I was aiming m-more for buetiful...." Looks away awkwardly

"I personally liked Ada Lovelace, she was mathematician in her teenage years.... Loved poetry, a countess.... She was very buetiful. But men displaced her theories as a scientist because she was a woman"

Casey's eyes widen in surprise. She looks down at herself. She is covered in dirt, bruises, and sweat, and she was bleeding slightly. Her first reaction is to think he was joking, but the way he was being all bashful makes her think otherwise. "Umm thanks, but a flower or the lake would probably be a heck of a lot better. You know, something that everyone thinks is beautiful," she says.

"The 1800s were not the best time for women to make a difference in science. I am glad things are different now. How did you first hear about her?" Lorenzo asks, excited to strike up a conversation about scientists.

Takaharu shakes his head "beauty I-is in the eye of the beholder, not those who look at it" smiles softly, looks to her.

She sits down besides him, grins. "My mother wrote a thesis on her for college when I was little, from then on Ada was her inspiration, she wanted to be just like her. Smart, buetiful, and outspoken." She looks to the sky. "She was a real loving person"

Casey pushes herself off the fence."Well then, let's find 'a smooth, blue stone," she says. "I think the lake ought to be the best place for that," she says. She picks a rope sash off the ground and drapes it over one shoulder, slipping the bat into it across her back. She tightens the sash, and then turned to look at the boy. "Oh wait! I forgot. My name's Casey," she says.

"Ada is a good inspiration," Lorenzo says. "Do you think your mother achieved her goal to be like Ada?" he asks, following the girl's gaze.

Tracee shrugs "I'd like to think so, but I'm not sure"
