I mean, I'm not aware of any bugs that eat gold and I haven't done any work in a long time that could have created one.
However, since a lot of our site is very old, the tracking for gold is far from complete. Newer features track currencies entirely, but older features do not. So I can't tell you where your gold went exactly.
I guess though if you can give me the exact amount of gold that was removed I can reimburse it for you.

It's totally fine. And hey, at least it brings up a good idea (if you're not already implementing something) a way to track gold would be awesome!

Understandable.
I'd really looking forward to what the site will be like after the overhaul, it's fun now, but I bet with all that extra stuff it will be even more amazing.
