If you like Star Wars or even just science fiction, The Old Republic is an enjoyable MMO. It used to be subscribe only, but some time ago went free to play with the option to pay for premium features and items. I haven't played it in awhile because I haven't had the money, it's hard to play the free version after having subbed since it's release, so I'm pretty behind on new features and such.

Pro: While an MMO, your character still has their own story based on the class you choose. You're also given options at various parts of your quests, including group and instance based quests, which effects your character's alignment as either good/dark and how the quest ends. You can recolor your armor or replace the look completely with clothes designed purely for appearance. They have what they call a 'Legacy' system which has various benefits, many of which can help new characters you create after leveling up your first character. Graphics are pretty good. My last foray into the RP side of the game was good, but that may have changed now.

Con: I don't know if it's changed since, but last I heard End Game content is fairly boring and Player vs Player wasn't balanced very well. Being free to play, there's various customizations that you have to pay for if you want including certain races and being able to hide your helmet. It's also slower leveling than subs. The crafting system, while neat, also felt detached to me as your companions do most the work gathering the materials and such and all you do is direct them to what you want done.
