I didn't know if this had been brought up before. I was just thinking about the "new pet" suggestion forum and thought this would be an interesting way to get both a new pet breed and to interact more with the game.
I was only suggesting one hybrid breed, thinking that there are quite a few breeds that have similar genes. The mixes I used were only examples.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.
I think it would be kind of cool to get a cross-breed but honestly I don't think many would fit well together. Plus, they would have to completely re-draw the line art and all of the genes and honestly I think I'd just prefer new species to be added.

Not entirely like the original idea, but it would be sorta neat to have a single pet breed based off of a chimera, that could only be obtained by breeding any two different species. At the very least it would utilize the concept of cross breeding without putting any more work on the artists than when they create other species. It would also be interesting to make them infertile, as you often see with interspecies hybrids.
But I'm also not at all booked up on coding, so actual getting genes to pass from two different species may end up being a huge mess and not viable.

This isn't really something that would be feasible. We refer to each species as a species which is typically defined as an interbreeding group of animals. So if two different species could breed, they wouldn't be two different species.
Additionally, each pair of this would in essence be an entirely new species without the 'new'. We would pretty much always just prefer to create a brand new species than a hybrid of two of them if we're going to invest the time and money into creating a new species.
It isn't a bad suggestion, but it's just not something that we can really do with Sylestia.
