Sylestia definitely has a very different feeling community from any other online game I've ever played. There is so much kindness and generosity, it's palpable. Most other online pet/game sites it's all about cut-throat competition -- getting just one more gold or whatever currency than the next person -- but here people are so happy to help others, even at expense to themselves. It really rubs off and gets everyone into a more giving spirit. Just watching the region chat during festivals shows the sort of thoughtfulness every player here exhibits. It makes me so happy to be a part of such a lovely community of people, especially having found the site when I'd first moved across the ocean to a country where I knew nobody. It was a wonderful boost to my confidence to feel like I was making friends and being social in some way. Even now that I have made a group of friends in my new city, it's so comforting to come back to Sylestia and see how everyone is getting on here.
