I think having separate buttons to manage your pet (one for breeding and one for selling) would help a lot. But something that would probably also help would be a little icon by the pets image in the pet page, just like in the stables, that would work as quick confirmation at to what it's been set for.

Honestly, anything to make easier would be a welcome change.
