Madeline smiled and shook Asukas hand, smiling kindly. *sure thing.* she looked up at the robots they would be fighting and chuckled. *I cant wait to test my mechs against those bots.*
Ryu looked at her hand in suprise, before a soft smile grew on his face. *yes, let us stick together.* he said softly, his emotions whirling. Was this. . . Companionship?
He liked it.

"Mechs?" Choji asks, wondering if he's heard Madeline right. But his question is covered by a deafening rumble as the robots begin to move, marking the beginning of the competition.
There's the sound of engines growling above his head--one of the mechs or robots?--but boy doesn't have time to look. No, all of his efforts are thrown into the battle. His head whirls and he raises his right arm, hand reforming itself into the shape of a muzzle and paint rockets out, splattering against the joints of a robot that has it's leg raised to perform a stomping attack at the applicants below.
Sky blue hardens, only to immediately crack under to pressure. But with that time, the others have managed to reposition themselves and bombard the machine with their quirks. One girl slams her hands into the dirt, sending the weeds dotting the grounds into a frenzy as they swell, wrapping themselves across the robot in an effort to unbalance it. Following up on the opportunity, a boy with a white mohawk launches himself upward in an eruption of wind, swiveling in the air to connect an empowered kick.
It shudders and topples backward, only for the sudden increase in force to cause the weeds to give way. After the first snaps, the others are quick to follow suit, leaving the robot unrestrained as a wave of its arm redirects Choji's attack.
It stands again, towering above the students with colorful bullet holes along its arm and a pristine chest, where its operating system tauntingly.
(Challenge has been started! I'll add Asuka working together with Ryu in next post, since I feel like it'd hurt the momentum that I've got going in this one. Imma show how hard this fight's supposed to be so that everyone can feel blown away when Madeline, Asuka, and Ryu pop off! c:)

Madeline grinned and slammed her gauntlet onto the ground and yelled, *Activate!*
Two massive robots then burst in. Theyre about 10 feet tall each, and are armed to the teeth - literally! One is armed with a blue jet back on the back, finger missles, an electrical laser blast from its mouth, powerful jaws, and lots of hidden panels hiding missles and guns, and a central panel hiding the most powerful weapon - youll learn that later.
This is Kiryu. (Google it for the image)
The second robot is much more intimidating - with a scary red glow, massive claw hands meant for punching, a large industrial grinder in the mouth, more hidden panels with guns and rockets, a prehensile drill tail, large powerful feet meant for stomps and kicks, and a powerful laser that cuts with heat from the mouth.
This is Mechagodzilla. (Google Monsterverse Godzilla for the image)
The two robot kaijus roared and charged, attacking the more dangerous robots by themselves without the need for the other kids. Then the two robots roared and glared at the massive robot at the back, and shot out powerful laser blasts from their mouths into the center Al operating system, absolutely destroying the internal functions.
Madeline laughed and pulled out a special gun like an assault rifle, and began firing. However, instead of bullets, it shot lasers, like a Star Wars gun. *now THIS is a fight!*

(Aah, Madeline's fight scene is so awesome, I love it. >///<)
At first, things continue normally. Well, as normal as battling robots can go, anyway.
From the corner of his vision, Choji watches as the boy's expression crumples into a frown, even as he pulls his hands back, gathering energy from the field with a strong wind that leaves Choji's jacket fluttering in the wind. The girl's face is pale from exhertion, but she continues, forcing her hands deeper as the destroyed vines shrink back down to wilted weeds and the grass far behind the robot swells.
Choji combines uses his efforts to bridge the gap between theirs, right arm reforming in a twist of rubber and plastic to reveal a gaping, trapezoidal opening. He fires with a force that sends him skidding backward and coats the ground behind the robot in a long lane paint.
It remains wet as the boy releases his Quirk in a blast of pressurized air. With the sudden lack of friction, the machine is launched into the waiting flora. Gigantifed grass quickly locks around the robot's chest, gorging out its core and leaving it to power off and collapse with a rising plume of smoke and a quiet hum.
Choji's head shines bright red in victory, and he turns towards the others with a bright laugh, ready to continue their attack.
Only... there doesn't seem to be any robots left?
Choji watches in shock as Madeline uses light--has she weaponized lasers?--to decimate the evaluation machines before noticing that two of the robots seem different than the rest. Are those Madline's mechs?
The fact that they're shooting lasers confirm that, yes, they are Madline's. Just who was I talking to before the assessment? Choji wonders, dazed. She's got to be famous.

Madeline laughed as they took down the first wave of robots, and holstered the gun before beating her chest and ROARING, her robots doing the same. It literally shook the air and ground from how powerful these sounds were. Then the two robots powered down and Madeline walked over to them and began patching them up. *good job, you two! You guys did great!* she complimented her mechs before looking at Choji. *and you were awesome! Great teamwork!*
Ryu smirked and watched this happen, hanging out in the back. He was waiting for his time to shine when the next wave of bots came. And he was EXCITED. His muscles were twitching to let loose, and his claws gripped the air as the Apex Predator inside him begged to be released.

Let's play a game, two truths and a lie. The test-makers had never planned to implement a second wave: truth one. The test-makers had never believed that a single student--who didn't even get in on recommendations, mind you--could annihilate the robots, leaving several examinees without a chance to properly fight: truth two. The test-makers could allow the examination to end here, without giving those aforementioned student hopefuls the chance to compete: false, clearly false, even outside the context of this game.
So clearly, the test-makers scrapped together a second wave of robots and sent them out.
Unaware of the complications, Asuka cheers Ryu on with a brilliant grin and a pumped fist before the doors open to reveal the next group of robots. Seeing how the others are doing, this shouldn't be too difficult.
The girl slides into the melee with arrogance stemming from Madeline's efforts. It could be a disaster, should be a disaster. But even is Asuka is no Mechagodzilla, she quickly earns her own right to confidence.
"You didn't even need teamwork," a boy mutters, still in shock, his attention lingering on the engineer, before he returns to earning points along with his 'team'. (This is Choji :,] )
Asuka ignores this, ignores all of her surroundings, and eyes the robot ahead. It swings its fist in a powerful attack, and she modifies the earth, makes it denser. A small patch of dirt sinks, bringing her safely underneath the attack before she resets her Quirk and launches herself forward to clasp the robot's foot.
It's structure folds, and the robot almost seems to collapse in on itself, crushed under its on weight. When Asuka estimates that the damage is enough, she reverses her Quirk, allowing the robot to return its metallic strength instead of the rubbery consistency she'd previously assigned.

Madeline smirked and had her robots stay out of the fight, but charged in herself with her guns.
Ryus eyes flared open, and anyone who saw him would swear they were just pure flames. He spread his wings and let out a loud cry, causing the humans and robots to stop and look over, before he launched himself at the robots, absolutely ripping them apart. He pecked them with his massive beak, shredded them with his talons, and just flew through some with his wings. He even just torched some with his fire breath, and helped protect anyone who needed assistance. He roared loudly and shot out flaming projectiles from his mouth, destroying some of the massive robots.
Madeline grinned and looked at Ryu before she began charging her gun. *hey, Bird Boy!*
When Ryu looked over she pointed at a massive robot with lots of armor. *combine our beams?*
Ryu grinned and opened his mouth, his throat glowing with the power of the flames inside. Madeline aimed her gun and snapped her fingers, and her mechs ran over, charging their own lasers.
Then with a massive energy distarge, the group fired massive energy beams into the large robot, causing it to explode into peices.
When the smoke cleared and the destruction was avaliable for all to see, the group grinned, and ROARED to the heavens.
Glorious.
(Ok I had the weirdest idea for a quirk ever, that I would love to make a character for.
Someone with a quirk that just makes them Kirby. Durability, Copy Abilities, the Inhale, floating, being an adorable round pink puffball, the works. What do you think?)

And with that, the rounds ends, leaving the stunned teachers to tally up the scores in monotone voices, their emotions exhausted by the students' performances.
"That inventor has the highest score by far, not counting the combined kill. After that, it should Ryu Ptero. He's the one we warned about by the application screeners. Those two clearly make it into Class 1A."
Together, they continue down the last, with Asuka being one of the seventeen students that get placed in before they encounter a stumbling point. With three slots left and multiple students tied in terms of points, it's time to pull out tiebreakers.
"Those three showcased good teamwork," one points at, gesturing towards the pictures of Choji and his 'team'. "Based off of the hidden criteria, that should push them above these other two."
And with that, the cast is sorted together into Class 1A, destined to experience trials and tribulations hand in hand for the coming years.
Asuka comes out of the testing room with a confident smile, one that she quickly turns teasing after she catches sight of Ryu. "I could have worked with you if you told me you were looking with a partner. What if I still needed points to make the cutoff, huh?" she says, emphasizing her teasing complaint with spread hands.
"Ah, I guess we'll save our combo for the school year. We'll be in the same class by then, so don't you forget me."
Similarly, Choji has been searching for Madeline. It's not hard to find her, given that the majority of students are still openly side-eyeing her, too nervous to go up and speak to the student who single-handedly dismantled the majority of the robots. Of course, her mechs help too with how they tower over even some of the buildings.
"That was amazing!" he says, making it look like a natural thing as he falls in beside her. Beat that, I got to know the best newbie first! he thinks, cheering himself on in his head though he's quickly embarrassed by the idea. Being unable to blush, his body expresses itself with the next best thing: turning on the small heat-regulating fans inside of his head.
Though the noise and a sudden rise of shyness, he asks, "Would you like to exchange phone numbers? I'm thinking of going out to celebrate if I make it in, and it's always more lively with other people."

(Sweet! Also, just to make things even more adorable, the person with the Kirby quirk will be younger than average - basically a young child about to enter middle school that wants to be a hero. Since its too late for them to compete, I think Ill put them in the heroes first real mission in the field.
I got the idea from this fanfic, where Izuku, despite being told hes quirkless, just wakes up as the pink puffball. Adorable. Its not complete but its still fun. The person who made this did the same for a Harry Potter Fanfic where Harry becomes Kirby through a Transfiguration accident.
I highly reccomend checking out these guys works. They collaborate a lot and have great, if incomplete, stories for MHA and Harry Potter.)
Ryu looked over and blinked before giving a smirk. *you are my first freind. I will not leave you behind that easily.* he chuckled. *and you have more than enough points. You are a great combatant and will be a great hero.* he said matter-of-factly.
Madeline was looking over her robots and giving them repairs. When she hears Choji, she looked over and grinned. *thanks! Ive been preparing for this for a long time so I had to go all out. Besides, you havent even seen all of my tricks yet. I still have plenty of other machines in the works and in my head. And sure, we can exchange numbers! Only if we bring Bird Boy and that girl hes with - theyre great teammates and Im sure they wouldnt mind if we invite them to celebrate.* she said, passing over a unique phone unlike anything hes ever seen.
Of course she invented a phone for herself, why wouldnt she have?

(That sounds quite fun, thank you! I'll check them out later once I have some free time. Plus, you can say that the Kirby hero was recommended, so they were accepted separately? That happens for a few characters in the show.)
Asuka grins, sharp and lively, before she knocks a fist against Ryu's shoulder. "I'll forgive you this time as long as you remember it," she says, as if she'd get upset over such a small thing. "I'm your first, and best, supporter after all."
Choji examines the phone with quiet amazement as he adds in his number under his full name--Nakaya Choji. "I'll send them an invitation, then," he agrees, returning the device once he's finished. "I'd love to see the rest of your designs later too. Maybe, once school starts, you could show me a few if it's not too much trouble?"
With that, he finds his way over to the two that Madeline has mentioned.
"Would you like to come celebrate with me and Madeline sometime?" he asks, gesturing to the girl behind him. "I'm sure the both of you made it in with your results."
