Welcome to Sylestia! I'm Fireflick, and if you have any questions feel free to pm me :)
I'm sure you've already gotten through the tutorial, but here's a few tips I find helpful!

1: I reccomend holding off on breeding/trapping pets unless you're really hooked on them. When you're newer, it's harder to earn gold and expanding stables can be costly. If you don't have the space, pets will be automatically released and it costs diamonds (hard to earn currency) to get them back. Unless they're themed, of course. Those are pretty cool :)
2: Town Healers are the biggest scam ever. As somebody who dumps money on them. . . don't. Your pets will automatically revive after fifteen(ish?) minutes and you can use potions/elixers/mushrooms/whatever for free.
3: Do missions. Grab a few extra pets that are high leveled (check advanced search) and send them on missions. They'll earn you a lot of extra gold, which is very benifical.
4: If you need gold, explore Trollsblight Caverns. (once you get there.) All of the treasure chests have gold - no traps - so you're fine. Actually, I think everything but the dungeon is like that, but I might be wrong.

Thank you! I have trollblight unlocked already and was farming it for the gold! And I actually do have a specific question about trapping pets. Someone else also mentioned it but what exactly are themed pets?

As for your question, I have two answers:
Short answer: A themed pet is a pet that has a certainly designed color palate and is sold for more.

Detailed Answer:
Okay, so to start, here's a pet of mine - Delta. My beloved starter; she got me far into the game. Here's a picture:
Now here's her genetics:
Looking over the image, here are a few questions that you can ask yourself to figure out if Delta is a themed pet:
-Is there a star anywhere?
-Does it have a title. Ex: Blue Jay Zolnixi, Raspberry Lemonade Lighira, Royal Elven Lupora?
-Can I find a pet like this on Advanced Search? (or) Have a seen a similar-looking pet before?
The answer to all of these questions is no. (But you can probably figure that out) Because of this, Delta is not a themed pet.
Now here's another of my pets, the first themed I found in the Lost Grove. It's name? 2c TidalRunesAnglerLights. (I know, tedius. For simplicity, let's call it 2c)
Now here's 2c's genetics:

Yup! There's a blue star below This is a tamed pet! (If you hover over it on the link I gave you, it will read Themed Pet)

It does! 2c is a Sprite Dancer Sylvorpa!
-Can I find a pet like this on Advanced Search? (or) Have a seen a similar-looking pet before?
Yes, you can/see/recall find similar pets. Looking on advanced search, I've found three pets that are similar-looking:

Another thing about themed pets:
They're worth more. For example, as much as I love Delta, nobody would want to buy her for much. Meanwhile, for 2c, she's a Sprite Dancer Sylvorpa. So she'd automatically sell for more than Delta.
