Russel looked at the door. saying goodbye to her family, maybe.

(Okay, whoops. I'll go back to edit that to a couple of satchels.)

Made one of them. She did not want to say goodbye, because she knew that as much as she was ready to go, goodbye would be the hardest part. She couldn't chicken out. She slung the satchels over her shoulder. "Ready?"

Russel nodded, cawing. he flew onto her shoulder. the talons hurt a tiny bit.

She didn't mind the little pinch that came with Russel's talons. Cheyenne began to walk out of the house, hoping that none of her family would see her. She didn't exactly have a good excuse for leaving.

then her mom ran over. *sweetie, wait!*

Her shoulders were hunched at the sound of her mom. She was tense for a second before she plastered a smile on and turned around. "Yes, mom?"

she said softly, *we know your leaving to go west, sweetie. we all do. we've known for a while.*

Cheyenne fought to keep the smile on her face. "You have?" She asked, her voice tight.

*we have.* she said softly, and held out a package. *we wont stop you. but we got you presents for the road.*

She couldn't hold onto the smile. It fell, and she stared at the package. "What is this?" She asked, not taking it. She was still trying to process the fact that her family had known.
