I ended up getting too excited and decided to draw this on my day off...


I put a lot of thought into this drawing (the amount of failed sketches is exceptional) and was having a mini aneurysm over how to draw a dragon egg. Since a hard shelled egg is only meant for creatures with beaks that can peck their way out and all reptiles have soft shell eggs and an egg tooth to help slit the egg and then get out (turtles bust out of there like the Kool-Aid man istg), but most, if not all, art about dragons hatching have hard-shelled eggs. So I consulted the Dragonology book I've had since before I could read, it feels. And I present you: egg horn. I was thinking about it while drawing and came up with this small bit of dragon lore (to ease my panic over soft-shell eggs):
Most dragons hatch with a tiny, semi-transparent horn on their nose to help break their way out of the shell. Within the first or second shed, the horn will drop off and no one would be the wiser. The exception to this rule are dragons heavily tied to the Earth element, which will grow the horn like a rattle on a rattle snake. These horns won't ever drop off, unlike most horns which are shed in the winter months.
(You can barely see it but there is an egg horn on it's snoot)

Similarly, most reptiles hatchlings are much more vibrant in coloration compared to adult reptiles, so I was thinking that this dragon is very clearly an iridescent, purple, black and blue dragon but as time wares on it'll probably loose some of that vibrancy and become much more dark. I have also added a little guilty pleasure of mine with that little tongue flick, snakes are just so cute and they do this little curious tongue flick and iugehhbda.

Idk if you wanted to know what went on in my head while I was drawing this, but, hey. Also please be aware that colouring is not my strong suit lmao.

Well, I will DEFINITELY cherish it, and add it to my account, but I don't know what oc means...

OC means Original Character! So if you want to write a story or just have this dragon as a mascot or something, that would fall under the label of OC. All I was trying to say is the dragon officially belongs to you :D
