The projectile instintly started emitting a green knockout gas as soon as Sonic caught it.

After a few minutes the gas disappated.
Chuckling silently to himself Damon keeps tracking a thief who was suspected of artifact smuggling.

A wolf hunter in this case Ruby happened to be in town. Seeing the gas cloud she put on her mask then went to make sure no one was in the cloud of sleeping fumes.
"Sonic?! Wake up!" She shakes him lightly as she grabs him.
