D hadn't known of love,only that there was such thing as kindness out in the world and that somehow she wanted a taste of it,even if it was a hint. The only time she'd thought she'd found out what it was when Luke had been her caretaker for a while,smiling gently to her and whispering soft words of how she was a pretty little pet and that she had behaved a little better and so she got some extra water.But then he'd gotten angry and then tasered her,shattering what she had thought of kindness and making her fear him and tasers.

Kate hadn't had anything like that happen to her. In school, she had always been an outcast and very shy, not wanting to reach out to anyone. The first time her heart got broke was in elementary school when her first crush had decided he didn't like her

D hadn't ever had a crush,she'd only tried to make friends for that's all she knew other than death and torture there was.Most of the time she had been ignored or attacked for it. And because she was stronger and fought better than all the others she'd been the one to get chained and soon hadn't been able to do anything anymore. And so she'd gotten to the point of just hissing and growling now when others came close in her cell,trying to attack them before they attacked her.

Kate sighed, not wanting to relive any memories

D shivered faintly and curled close to Kate,getting rid of the images in her head.

Kate gently ran a hand up and down D's back, attempting to comfort her

The movement did calm her,though her spine was easy to feel,and she stopped shivering.

Kate felt along D's spine. "You must be starving! What can I get you?"

"Huh? No,I'm okay." she said,shrugging. She'd learned to eat very little and so now didn't have to capacity to eat to much.

"I'm making you something," Kate insisted. "You're just skin and bones!"
