Is it ok for Rag to start the first page of the beasterian with some sort of intro? If so what kind of intro?

It's fine for him to start, since he's got the most hammered-out plan for monsters. How about something like this for an intro?:

     "In the dark of the night, things arise that are beyond most people's understanding. They exist in many forms, yet all are called by the name of 'monster.' These creatures stalk through the night, hunting for easy prey. A brave few stand between your children and these monsters, but they cannot reach them all.

     In truth, not all are the ravening beasts they are thought to be. Many are really peaceful beings, finding food and other resources from non-human sources. This guide will teach you basic ways you can tell the difference--and how to deal with the oncoming threat."

With suitable edits. We also might want to add a 'threat intensity' or 'danger level' slot to the form.
