So in a way, I consider the gods to be like Greek gods in that they stay in the heavens but can come down if they want to. Most of the time though, they would push anything they want done to the hands of their servants (let's just call them Messengers now because I like the term)

It's a question if this world always had these gods or they just showed up from another realm one day and now use the world as their arena.
I kinda like the idea of this world having been an abandoned godless world until they showed up with promises of making everything better and beginning to answer the prayers of those who worshipped them.

Maybe the gods got pitted against themselves because they could no longer stand sharing the world and now have like entire countries of mortals they side with and all sides have a vested interest in winning the war for their own prosperity and God.

I consider the Messengers to be like angels, probably once mortal but died and reborn as they are if they weren't just generated out of thin air by their respective god

But yeah the title is what I'm trying to work with. Setting the world back to normal, sort of a new dawn for them

Edit: another idea is that one could become a Messenger by being blessed by a god too through sufficient devotion. Sort of similar to vowing to become its avatar. Nixes out the requirement of needing to kill a normal character for them to end up a servant down the line.
I assume the methods of creating Messengers and even using Messengers would vary between gods.
For example would make sense for a god of death to make all of his out of the deceased whereas a holy god might choose to bless people.

I'm also going to start working on the thread today and creating all these particular gods and brainstorming countries but let me know if you have more ideas or suggestions.

Anyway yeah we can mix some of those ideas together. So maybe the gods showed up and started changing things in the world (you know, landscape etc. big changes), a former godless world, whispering promises that it would make everything better.

They can either hate eachother (which would mean less interaction for our messengers I think) or they can just pit their nations against eachother for fun, just to see who would win. While maybe they lie to the natives about why the war is really going on?

Hm or we could run with your Messenger/Servant by appointment idea. That way the Messengers would have connections with the natives, they used to be natives. I like that.

I like the idea of them just pitting nations against each other and using mortals to basically decide their disputes with other gods for them. Wouldn't doubt there's also gods out there treating the world like a fight pit and having wars started just for entertainment which is probably how this whole mess started.

I also can't not make a fire god, my phoenix dude used to be one. XD

But yeah I think I'll keep them elemental aligned
Here is what I've got worked out mentally (dual element for some because whatever):

Light/Sun, Darkness/Death, Sea/Storm, Cosmos/Moon, Life/Nature, Void/Anima(literally nonexistence and the space between realms and souls), Order/Creation, Earth/Animal, Fire/Forge, Wind/Chaos.

As for the appointment thing, that would probably work best overall since those Messengers would be expected to be able to influence their own people that way and in a sense would be recognized as an extension of their god's will if not seen as a sort of prophet or mouthpiece for their respective god in themselves. Lends itself to a lot of these Messengers being cause for their wars because they are delivering their god's word. (Also potential conflicts between each other or between Messengers and gods they are now morally opposed to serving).

Bringing things either back to peace by destroying their gods and the characters ascending as the new ones or the party agreeing to bring the world back to a godless state would be party's overall goal.

Hmmm uh, I'm thinking of using Cypress and Wendall (atleast to start with) who would probably be Fire/Forge and uhhh may I propose switching Earth/Life and Nature/Animal? (Wendall would be Nature/Animal). Idk if gods can only have one messenger, but if so I promise those are the only two I'll take for now xD You have pick over all the rest until you get tired of picking.

I'm not sure which end I like better-- maybe we'll figure it out when we get there?


Hey, this has a pretty good mix of all of our ideas, including the prejudices thing, like how the messengers would be uh-- probably not very fond of eachother xD

We could say though, that as uh-- natives? Idk whatever they were before servants and messengers, they believed in the gods, but after ascending to messenger/servant status they realized just how wrong they were about the gods. So now they hate the gods that they serve, but because of deep rooted prejudice still aren't fond of eachother-- but now they have a common enemy.

oh and if you need help with country names I can help by donating some of the ones from my world xD

I assume gods would have multiple messengers overall but for the sake of just the two of us, we'll keep it to one. Idk if I'll ping anyone else into this

Maybe one or two other people max that I know could but huge maybe rn. It's seriously burning me out having to constantly readjust to new settings and new characters and I'm getting sick of it.

Bunch of unlikely people from all different backgrounds forced to work together. Tried to encompass as much idea wise as I could

As for my characters, I'm bringing Lux in definitely since he's a character I really want to sandbox and develop further personality wise for another group. I think I'll stick him with the moon god here instead of giving him his usual wind powers just so I can keep the two versions straight. He's a bit of a character hard for me to work with in general (since he's pretty eccentric honestly) but I've grown to like him a lot.
I think here I'd just start him off as human and have him become a Messenger later.

I'm not sure what I want to do for a second one but since I was pitched an idea in another group for an existing infant character I've yet to develop at all because of her age, I might drop her here. Aged up of course. :>
She'd probably be dark aligned like her dad lol and I will likely start her as a Messenger.

I should also be good name wise since I have tons of random generators saved for that

I'll try my best not to abandon this! And I likely never will, although there may be periods when im less responsive bc of problems irl and such (namely loosing my devices). But Ill try to inform you before those kinds of problems come up.

I'm using Cypress and Wendall to begin with because I wanna write some of there interactions since they're supposed to be partners (which also means I'm going to have to fit in there human partner later too). But from scratch, since I never wrote there relationship developing, or how they interacted before they got all that stuff sorted out.

I'm pretty capable with a huge cast if I want to flatter myself, so if I really wanted I could probably pitch in like, 6 characters at once and manage them, but I don't want to overwhelm you, and I'm not sure how well you are at that.

I'm almost done with the two sheets though, so look out for those.

I'm pretty used to writing multiple characters at once, but since I'm running other groups atm and part of others, I don't want to add too much more to my plate that I'd struggle to deal with when my time is less free.

I'm alright with following multiple characters in small groups as well. (Generally I do best when they aren't already established because I've run into the issue before where all the characters were and knew each other but mine and I literally couldn't find a way to interact with them that wasn't deflected @_@)

To avoid that here, mine are only really keeping more or less the name and personality (since their sci-fi backstories wouldn't work here anyways)

I'm not making an huge changes to Wendall and Cypress, everything i wrote is pretty canon minus some details on how vampires work in my world. The only thing I changed was there relationship status. Speaking of, add Lyos to the list of Oc's I need to incorporate eventually...


so thats-- lets see, 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5 oc's i plan on using eventually? yeah that number will probably go up as i use others as quick npc's and fill ins for short interactions.
