Sonic let out a sigh.

"That was the last time I spoke with him. Nobody told him the doctor's verdict, but I think he already knew. The next day, me and Tails found out that he had somehow managed to leave the hospital. He wasn't hard to flag down, but by the time we did, he was--..."

The hedgehog trailed off, quills bristling. He rubbed his arms and flattened his ears against his skull, averting his gaze. After a minute of silence, he gathered himself and went on.

"I... came to Angel Island a month later. It took a lot for me to do that and the flight up here was the longest trip of my life, but I felt like I owed Knux that much."

Val gave a nod and proceeded to play the game.

Kit gave a small nod, she then got up, walked over to the hedgehog before giving him a hug that he obviously needed.

Sonic sighed, returning the gesture. "Th-thanks." He mumbled into her fur.

Kit gave a soft chuckle, "Its alright, everyone needs a hug once in a while." She said with a motherly smile.

Val stuck her tongue out in concentration as she fought some baddies.

(I've never played the game before, so I am purely improvising right now)

(It's basically LoZ:BotW, but bigger and occasionally buggy.
Oh. And it starts with a long charather customization, followed by a prison escape :3)

"Hm..." Sonic pulled away after a minute, glanceing to the side awkwardly. "Uh, want me to keep going or...?"

Val furrowed her brows as she was trying to defeat a very strong opponent that wasn't going down easily.

Kit pulled away, she gave a nod.

Sonic twitched an ear. "Don't worry. Worst part's over." He said, more to himself than to Kit. "So, I went to the Emerald. Shadow agreed to watch it as soon as respects were paid, but I needed to clear my head. I wasn't really ready to accept things... y'know?"

Kit listened intently as her ear twitched at the sound of birds chirping.

Sonic continued. "I sat there for-- geez, I don't even know how long. I can't really describe how I felt, but I can assure you, that last thing you need when something like that happens is more time to think. Sometime after the sunset, I started talking to his rock." He paused, glancing up at the sky.

Sonic sat with his back pressed up against tbe large gemstone. "...You've helped heal him before. Why not now?" He questioned, in almost a whisper. He let out a sharp sigh a minute later, when he realized he was speaking to empty air.

"Why am I spilling my guts to ypu anyway, huh?" He demanded, voice carrying a slight edge to it. Anger. The perfect cover up for grief. Seconds passed, and the only response was the steady glow of the Emerald.

Kit listened as she remembered the anger she felt towards herself when Hedge had gotten hurt, she had been there and could have shielded him. All the times she thought of just leaving for not protecting her family. Before remembering that Nick still lived there. She stayed to make sure that she could protect her family. She had fallen into a pit of depression, but got out.
