(Yes, he does.)
You climb to get the shoe, the woman standing behind/under you. When you return, she looks at you gratefully. Behind her, Bailea was glaring, though, holding Aislinn's hand but seeming mad at the woman with the shoe (or lack thereof).

"She's bad!" Bailea exclaimed suddenly, pointing at the woman. The woman in question narrowed her eyes.
"Shut up, brat."

Why are you calling her a brat??
I harshly ask the Woman.
Although, I do give Bailea a quick glare.

"All kids are," the woman responded.
Bailea flinched a little at your glare, stepping closer to Aislinn, who gave you a hard look.

Some of the tension I was holding in my shoulders released - clearly if she wanted to eat me she would have in that moment. "Hello..." I said, still somewhat cautious. I was hoping she could understand me, but the likeliness of the bird being able to speak was laughable at best.

She squawked, and then gently touched your hand with her beak.

I had no idea what she wanted, so I tentatively held my hand out to her. I lowered my other hand slowly, careful to still keep it away from my body in a nonthreatening manner.

She touched your hand again, and then opened her beak slightly. Then, she closed her beak. Pain shot through your hand and arm. In one swift, concise movement, she had bitten your pinkie finger completely off.
