Startled, I sit down. "...Thor?" How could Thor be dead? He was one of the best. How had he died? By fire? By that hideous monster thing? If Thor was dead, then what about the rest of the team? Cap, and Hawkeye, and Hulk, and Mr. Stark. Were they all dead too? I look at my lap and three drops hit my legs. I cover my face. Without warning, shaking sobs hit me and all of a sudden, I'm crying. I curl up in a ball, not wanting Lavender to see.

i cry a tiny bit louder still unnoticed

Eventually, every muscle I own tightens as each sob racks me. Each sob hurts, physical pain adding to the pain of loss. But I can't say anything. Each sob is but a hard, sighing, shuddering breath. The tears come slowly; they don't flow, they leak. As if my brain knows to save them. For whatever else I don't know, don't want to know. And suddenly, it stops. The racking, spasmodic, shuddering sobs are gone, my tears all run dry, and I am left, tired, short of breath, and I feel like spaghetti. I rub my face dry and sniff a few times, hoping that Lavender hasn't seen me. And then I see her, crying, her head in her claws.

She sniffs then continues to cry

I get up, kind of shakily, and walk to her. And I have absolutely no idea how to comfort a really sad hippogryph, so I gently stroke her ear tufties, wondering if that helps. A few remnant tears roll down my face, but I don't cry any more.

she seems to just be weirded out by this and hides her thor plushies and pillows

"Sorry." Just a little breath, a lot quieter than I intended. I stop petting the feather tufties where her ears should be. I back off a little. And how could one entity have that many plushies of the same thing. I mean, I had at least that many, but they weren't all Thor. There were some Cap things, more than a few Iron Man things, some Thor stuff, and some Hulk stuff, and not that I'd ever admit it but I had some Black Widow stuff too. All of which was usually in my closet. And I wondered, had anything survived that inferno? Maybe the part we saw was Brooklyn, and Queens was okay. Maybe, just maybe, Aunt May had made it.
