Time passes and dusk comes creeping in. While Alexis has been working, Kavaratti has spoken to the chief about her situation, gotten his family's approval, and set up preparing her room with their help.
Now, he returns, leading her back to the village. "I've spoken to our town elder, and she's officially approved your stay. The others have also helped me find some furniture for your room, which I've been getting ready with my family's house. I haven't showed anyone your designs though, since I figured that you would want to be there when others see them."
They enter the town grounds, passing by cheerful houses with the aroma of smoked fish and seaweeds drifting by. Children frolic around, some passing by in games of tag and others pausing to give quick waves.
Eventually, Kavaratti stops in front of his house, where a mature couple awaits. His father has laugh lines around his eyes, and his mother has her hair pulled up in a simple bun. Both are smiling, and the latter reaches out to usher Alexis in.
"Welcome, welcome, we're glad to have you," his mother says. "Make yourself at home! Dinner's still cooking, but Kavaratti can show you your room in the meantime."
As they approach the door, his younger sister springs out. She's young, with a doll in her hand and a gap between her front teeth.
"Hello!" she says, reaching out a small hand.

Alexis smiled and followed Kavaratti around, looking around in awe. Whenever kids waved to her, she smiled and waved back.
When she entered the house, she was suprised at how kind everyone was being. She wasnt used to it, but she really liked being cared for in this way. When she saw Kavarattis little sister, she gave a big smile and shook her hand. *hello, little one. Im Alexis. Whats your name?*

"I'm Mya," she says, voice bubbly as she gestures towards Kavaratti. "That's my brother. He's says you're very smart."
He stands back as she looks up Alexis, eyes wide and thoughtful before she breaks out in a slight giggle. "But I like your hair. It's pretty."

With this exchange, Kavaratti gently extracts Alexis from the conversation, promising his sister to bring her a gift as soon as he's finished settling back in.
"This is what we found for now," he says, raising a hand to push back his hair as he spins in a gesture to take a look around. There's a simple bed in the corner and a desk by the window. In the corner, a small screen has been pushed aside to reveal a small storage space for clothes and personal belongings.
"If there's anything you need, we can get more, later."

She smiled and looked around, beaming. *its perfect.* she said softly, overjoyed. *its more than I had back home.* then she suddenly paled and clapped a hand over her mouth, horrified that she said that out loud.

Kavaratti pauses, dark eyes softening as he glances at Alexis. "I'm sorry to hear that," he says. "You deserve better. If I can ever help you or get you anything, feel free to ask."
In the flickering dusk, the last vestiges of light filter in through the window, throwing strands of liquid gold and molten flame across Alexis's face. They catch in her eyelashes, dance in her eyes, and Kavaratti is struck by the feeling that he's grown like her.
Sometime during their stay on Berk, sometime during the trip home, the caring he's felt has morphed into something more. Because Alexis is brilliant, and he wants to bask in the light she excludes.
The air feels thick with the weight of his realization, but Kavaratti speaks anyway. "It's nothing to be ashamed about. You don't have to talk about it either if you don't want to. You can do whatever you want, now."

(Thats a very good way to show that Kavaratti is starting to feel for her :D)
Alexis looked over, tearing up and silent. She was touched by the kindness shown to her and glad she had a new start here, but was still getting used to being accepted. As the last of the light shown over her face, it then shifted over to Kavarattis face - his rugged, serious expression, and the scars on his body, but they also shown on his eyes - pits full of emotion he kept hidden behind a battle-hardened exterior.
Externally, nothing changed in her appearance. But internally, she was blushing and admiring him a bit. He had been so kind to her, so accepting, and so helpful, that she had slowly fallen for him over their journey together. This. . . Was very new to her. Love wasnt something she was used to. She was excited and nervous to learn more about it.
She smiled and sniffed, wiping her eyes. *th-thank you. You. . . You have no idea how much this kindness you have shown to me means to me.*

Something wet glistens on the edge of Alexis's eyes. Kavaratti peers closer, confused, up until he hears the sniffling. Fxck, he thinks, she's crying.
His hands jerk up from their position by his side, only to stop, hovering in the air. He doesn't know what to do. Knowing what they did to Alexis on the island, would she still be okay with a comforting touch or would it startle her?
Kavaratti eventually settles for a soft smile. "I'm glad I could help," he says, hesitantly retracting his arms to cross them in front of his chest.

She beamed and sniffled, wiping her eyes, before suddenly launching herself at him and hugging him tightly, crying softly into his shoulder. She had so many pent up emotions, and she never seemed to relax. Now, she finally had that chance.
