It shakes its head, gazing out towards the deeper sea.

"Why are you staying here," Drake asks the kelpie, "don't you live in deeper waters? Or is there something that even you're afraid of?"

It nods.

"What's out there that even you would be afraid of," Drake knew not to expect an answer but he still asked.

It snorts again, flicking its long, fishy tail.

Drake frowns, "A bigger fish or should I say a more powerful kelpie? Fine but if too many people start asking questions if people start disappearing you have been warned."

It doesn't react to him this time.

Drake looks at the kelpie before turning away, "Good night. Thank you again for helping me home." He walks towards the house only to see the door open. Seeing that he runs to the house and finds everyone gone. The only trace of his mother and Drake's mother's friend is a note.
The note reads:

"Drake, I had to take your mother to the hospital. I tried to contact you while we were on our way, but I couldn't reach you. You need to get to the hospital as soon as you read this."

After reading the note Drake runs in the direction of the hospital. He didn't care how much he ached or how pale he seemed. He just wanted to get there.

Things have gone quiet throughout the town. Most people are home by now, so he has little trouble getting there.

Drake bursts through the door and slides to a stop in front of the receptionist's desk, "Mrs. Whitney Waverrider where is she?"
