Latan has taken Raglan's advice and is lying on his back. There is quite a bit of blood spilling onto the grass from the bandage around his stomach.

Raglan is sitting next to him, looking a little annoyed.

they can hear her snore

I arose and slowly made my way to Latan and look at him my pristine white eyes studying the blood.

Latan opens his eyes and glances at Sammy. "Somethin' wrong?"

Sibnele looks towards the trees, frowning.

she is still sleeping.

I shook my head.

"Oh. . .okay." Latan inhales deeply. "So, uh, do you know how dying works for us?"

Sibnele stands up and starts walking silently to the trees, closer to where Luca and the bird are hidden. He grips his knife tightly.

luca turns over.

I shook my head again, and glanced at Sibnele my body stiff.

"Well, we don't exactly. . .well, die. We come back eventually," Latan says.

The bird tenses up around Luca. Sibnele is getting pretty close - he's peering into the bushes.
