Vilas was going to apologize for asking, but decided against it. She wouldn't want someone apologizing to her if they had no idea. "Oh, that's right... I've heard about that technique before." She was already putting into practice what Merikh had told her, and it was already helping a bit. She was still slow and precise, but she felt that it looked much better now. She held the paper halfway through the circle, with the pencil resting on top. "Did I do okay? I hope so..." True to her nature, she was quite nervous for the response, but hopeful nonetheless.
Walking through the town, Zerial noticed that he was near the apartments. Shrugging, he decided it would be best to wait for Vilas to get back and then go looking around with her. Not to mention, he hadn't even looked around the entire apartment yet.

Merikh leaned forward to examine the drawing and accidentally bonked his nose on the magic circle barrier. "Oh!" He said in surprise, and laughed a little before looking again at Vilas' drawing. "That's actually pretty good, especially for your first circle. Drawing the intent is the hardest part...The rest should be a little easier. Lines don't have to be as precise as the intent, just keep them symmetrical, and use swirly lines for magic enhancement. It's easier to create a rune if you think of it as art." He said, hoping the advice he offered would suffice.

Vilas stifled a laugh and said, "Okay, swirly lines for magic, and the lines aren't as important as the intent. Got it. So kind of like vines! I don't know much about art, but I can definitely draw vine patterns." She paused briefly as a though hit her, but then said, "Why did you offer to teach me, anyway? It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me..."

Merikh's ears flopped back as he thought about the question. There were lots of reasons running through his head... 'I feel bad for considering killing you, I'm afraid if you don't like me I'll die, I consider it a trade for the information you'll learn about poltergeists from me and for helping convince that lupora to spare me, I want to teach someone about something I like, I'm lonely...' He didn't voice any of these thoughts out loud, and wondered which one he should tell the luffox. "Uhh...I guess I owe you for helping convince that lupora not to kill me." He stated simply. "And I also saw that the magic circle below and above me was a lot different from the ones I grew up doing...I don't want it to slowly become a lost art."

"Oh, well, it's really Zerial that deserves the thanks. If he weren't there, I would've been too scared to say anything... But something else has been bothering me. Alala seems to believe that all poltergeists are nothing but evil, yet here you are teaching me about magic circles and being nice. I'd surely be much less confused if I stayed alone in the forest like I have been for the past three years." Vilas spent a moment trying to figure things out before saying, "But I guess that--" She was cut off mid-sentence by a yawn, followed by, "Sorry, I guess I'm getting tired."

Merikh looked intensely at Vilas, before saying what he believed was the truth, "You're forgetting I'm not going to be like this forever. Someday I'll either die a second time or possess someone." His eyes widened at the realization of what he just said. "Oh. That probably wasn't the best thing to say. Well, you seem really tired...I guess you should probably go back to your apartment." He swished his tail around nervously.

Another small yawn escaped Vilas before she said, "That's true, but sometimes bad things happen for good reasons... Or karma. You said you'd prefer to possess someone who's not a good person over someone who is. So if they're a bad person, then it's karma. And they won't be around anymore to cause suffering to others, so it's a good thing, too." Before actually leaving, Vilas asked, "Even if Alala wouldn't be happy with me doing this, is there anything I could bring here to make this place seem less... Um, what's the word... Foreboding! Anything to make it less foreboding? Hm, that might not be the right word..."

Merikh wagged his tail a little. "Um, could you leave some paper and a pencil with me? I'd really like to be able to have something to do, like draw magic circles, other than stare at the wall and sleep." At the curious look on Vilas's face, he added, "Before you ask, I'm not sure if I actually need sleep or not...but after staying awake by myself five days...I felt really strange. Not tired, but strange. It may be a psychological thing."

Vilas nodded and said, "That's something I can add to some notes or something. That staying awake produces an odd feeling. I should probably tell Zerial, too." Vilas brought another notebook from the desk, and multiple pencils just in case the lead broke or dulled too much on one, and slid them as far as she could into the circle. As she was halfway through the door, she decided to say, "Goodnight, Merikh." After closing the door, she dismissed the guard and told him that she'd have to talk to him about the information she got some other time as she was very tired now. The Nytekrie left without complaint, and Vilas assumed he was tired, too. She was in there a lot longer than she expected. Vilas knew the way back to the apartment, and was headed there now.
