And, Michael, you would fall and turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime" It was an a cappella song,something she'd heard on a recording played by one of the nicer workers and she had tried teaching the others but they couldn't speak at all so they couldn't understand her or sing either.

Kate continued to listen, huddling closer to D as the song went on

She tapped the floor with her tail to keep beat and close her eyes,smiling as she sang softly.

Kate felt like a child again, listening to her mom sing. That made her heart throb, and not in a nice way, either.

D felt her emotions,being practically part animal so she could at times,and stopped,opening her eyes and looking to Kate with worry.

Kate noticed she had stopped singing after a moment. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing...but...are you feeling okay?"

She sighed, but it wasn't a happy sound this time. "Just remembering my mom."

D gently stroked her cheek,eyes soft and worrying. "Sorry."

She shrugged. "It's okay. It's not your fault so don't apologize, okay?"
