There was a strange gray hat in the corner. It was domed on top, with a circular rim and a red band around the base: a bowler hat.

Something moved out of the corner of her eye. She caught a glimpse of a figure hiding behind Ethans bedroom door, its pale eyes watching her through the crack.

Of course, nothing was really there.
"Ethan?" Moms voice floated outside the door, and her silhouette appeared in the frame. "Ethan, honey, time to get ready for bed. Its been a long day." She held out her hand, and Ethan hopped down to pad across the room, dragging his rabbit behind him.
"Can I sleep with you and Daddy?" He asked, his voice small and scared.
"Oh, I guess so. Just for tonight, okay?"
"'Kay."

It definitely was strange. And it was higher than Ethan could reach, so Ethan couldn't have put it there...
