The hyena smiled at the small fox, so she was a funny one,"Well, that makes me feel much better about talking to the foot tall fox."

"True I'm no threat." She said slipping out the back of the log and climbing on top of it. From here she could almost see eye to eye with him. "So what is your name?"

"They call me Nep, or, at least, that's what they did call me before they left," The hyena looked around the forest, seeing many fat birds picking seeds off the ground. "Have you seen the big lake? The fish are huge!"

"And I am River." The fox said her ears pointed forward. "And yes I have seen the lake, it's one of the many places I like to spend my time. In fact I was thinking of heading down there soon, to see if I could catch anything."

"Water does bother me, seeing as I've seen a small deer get snatched up by a crocodile down there. Do you mind if I come with you?" Nep asked River, standing up and stretching.

"Not at all, I quite enjoy your company." The fox said before jumping down from the log. She made her way through the woods past the flower beds and such before the brush gave way to the lake side. "I normally keep to the shallows on this side, there is a bit of a dam here that keeps most of theater predators away."

Nep smiled, trotting towards the lake. "When did you leave your family? Has it been long?" He felt like he was getting too personal with the fox, but couldn't bear to walk in silence.

"I didn't leave my family...they left me. It was about a year ago my mother and father both laid down their lives to keep me safe. I can never thank them enough for that yet at the same time I wise they hadn't left.." She said stepping into the water as she began to search for crawfish and forest water oysters.

A bit away the female hyena was batting at a particularly cranky crab that had walked up and pinched her while she had been sitting there. Now she was attempting to disable it enough to finish off. Despite her best attempts though it seemed to only be getting the best of her yet.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I left my family so I didn't have to watch them die," Nep quickly tried to change the conversation after that,"So, what are you looking for..?" He looked around in the water, carefully watching for alligators and crocodiles. He fished around until he found a crawfish. He tried to shell it, but his paws were too big. Nep was too proud to ask for help, so he sat there, gnawing on the whole thing.

"I'm looking for crayfish or freshwater clams. A frog or two would be nice." The fox said pawing about in the water before pulling a half summered catfish. "Here, you can have this." She smiled wagging her tail a little.
