(That's fine about the flowers, Kromma, just add it to the character sheet.)

Alala looked at Rina for a few moments. "Well, okay. Are you hungry? I can get you a meal if you're hungry, since I was planning on going to grab a bite to eat anyway. And if you want, you can stay here for the night. It's quite late, I wouldn't want you wandering around at this time..." The Lupora suspected that Rina might be hiding something from her, but didn't press the issue. At the moment she wanted to make sure the first member of the Guards of Tomorrow program, or G.O.T. for short, was being taken care of.

Merikh took the paper and pencil from Vilas and was pleased to find that his paw could grip the pencil as long as he focused on writing. "So, the basics of line..." he began as he drew four circles on the paper. They were perfectly round from years of practice. "Generally, curved lines affect magic. Straight lines affect containment, protection, and the like. Swirls and interconnected lines heal or harm. There's a few that are more advanced, but those are the three main ones." He began drawing a symmetrical flower in the center of the circle. "The center represents your intent...what you want the rune to do. But you can't just draw any random picture...everything in a magic circle has to by symmetrical or it'll fail." He paused, concentrating on his work for a moment. "You can add other shapes to the rune, too... a square around it, or two triangles. What they'll do depends on intent... and done." He'd finished his rune, and slid it across the barrier to Vilas. "I made it to heal you specifically as an example... My intent was to heal you, so I used a flower. If you wave your paw over it you should feel the magic."

The thought of food made Rina drool. She had forgotten how hungry she was. It was nice of Alala to offer her to stay here. No one had ever been so nice to her.

Rina nodded, "Yes please, it would be nice to get something to eat."

Alala nodded and stood up, walking to a hook near the back corner of the room. It held a leather pouch on a string necklace. The Lupora grabbed the pouch in her mouth and flipped her head back, putting the necklace on. When she let go of it and let it hang on her neck, the sound of coins jingling inside could be heard. Alala then looked at Rina before asking, "If you like, you can get on my back so we can fly to this good restaurant in town."

(I'll do that after this post.)

Vilas was fascinated by the possibilities of the circles. Hovering her paw over the flower circle, she felt a slight sensation. It was unlike anything she could describe, and she wanted to learn more about them. "I feel something... Kind of like warmth? But not exactly. I can't believe I never learned about these in any of the books I read. If I would've known about them, those three years wouldn't have been so monotonous I'd bet." Vilas, being completely absorbed by learning, sort of forgot who she was talking to and where she was. She forgot that Merikh didn't know about her past, or really much about her at all, and didn't even realize she had said anything about her past. "What are the other three circles for?" She asked, looking at the page and the three blank circles.

Merikh gazed down at the paper. "Oh! I thought we could take turns drawing them. It's often hard for beginners to draw a perfect circle, so I wanted to give you a base to go on." He swatted the pencil out of the circle, sliding it across the floor. "You can try it yourself, or if you like, I can give you pointers as you draw..." He said, tilting just one ear to the side in question.

(Do you have an estimate on when a map will be ready of the town? There's not rush or anything, I'm just curious. And very forgetful and a map would help. ^-^')

"Oh! Yes, help would be, well, helpful." Vilas laughed a bit, then continued, "Hm... I don't know what I want it to do. Is there one that's easier than others? Or good for beginners?" She asked, pencil hovering over the paper in the center of one of the circles.

Zerial had grown tired of reading, but he did find a lot of useful information. He figured he should go explore the town and it's shops. So that's what he did. Upon leaving the building he was in, he saw many smaller buildings. Unsure of where to go first, he stood in the same spot for quite a while. Eventually, he just walked in the direction he was facing, hoping to come across anything of interest.

(I have a map of the island, but not the town... I'll try and make it this weekend. There's a medical center, library, guard towers, townhouse, courthouse, and lab for sure so far, but feel free to make suggestions.)

"Hmm... healing and magic enhancers are easy. If you put something family-related as the center, and your intent was to enhance magic, I'm sure it would make something nice that would enhance the magic of only your family members. That'd be something you could show your brother... Maybe you could do two symmetrical horns, since that's a trait that runs in the family, apparently." Merikh said. He was rather happy and relaxed, and it showed in his body language. He'd even forgotten he was panting so hard because of the very magic circles he was teaching Vilas about.

(Alright, that's neat)

"Okay, I'll try that! But I don't remember my brother ever using magic for anything... Though, I guess if he's a ghost now there must be a lot of stuff he needs magic to do." Vilas was smiling and attempting to draw symmetrical horns, but found it was much harder than she anticipated. Even with slow and deliberate lines, it was clear that they weren't entirely symmetrical. "I guess practice would be the best thing to help me. How did you get so good at symmetry?"

"My family started to teach me as soon as I could hold a pencil... They said I was drawing before I was talking." Merikh said, his eyes growing a distant look. "We'd draw in chalk on the mountain rocks... We made our living by going into towns and taking requests for high quality magic circles. After the war started, we stopped going into town and drew one big circle to keep anyone out but--" He inhaled suddenly and stopped talking. "Y-yeah. I just have a lot of experience. You have to practice a lot. And it helps me to turn the paper when I'm doing a curve to get a better angle."
