"That Pyre and his ancestors' way of ruling is wrong."

"What is their way of ruling?"

"Heavily military and authority based."

"Oh...is that so bad?"

"yes."

"But if there are guidelines then everyone plays their part. And why fight what has been for many years, if it is how things are then should we not comply?"

He sighs. "Imagine it like this. Let's say you like oranges, bananas, and apples, but not grapes. In an insect city, there isn't much but all options are available. This means you don't have to eat grapes, because you don't like them. Under Pyre's rule, however, there's the same limited resources, but people higher ranked get the oranges, bananas, and apples first. It's hence harder to get what you want and you're more likely to end up with grapes."

"Oh...but then wouldn't that make you want to work harder on moving up to a higher class?"

"It's very difficult to reach a higher class in fox society. Much like with ants their roles are predetermined, but unlike ants rewards are given based on their roles. This means that if you're born to, for example, bake bread, you will get very little. However, if you're born to be a soldier or queen, you will be given high amounts of rewards despite putting in just as much effort as a baker."

"Oh...that's not fair, or a nice way to motivate others to work their way up. But if that's how things are for so long, why not just be thankful for what we can be for and live as things are? Why do we have to kill and fight?"
