He noticed and went down to the mess hall kitchen place. He didn't really know what it was called, and he did find a banana.

By now, she's fallen asleep.

He returns to her cell and waits until she wakes back up. She needed all the rest she could get

It's almost an hour before she does.

Donovan had almost fell asleep himself by the time she wakes up

She'd been coughing in her sleep, and doesn't stop when she wakes up.

Donovan tiredly got up from his sitting position and handed the banana to her. "Here, try to eat this."

She manages to eat a bite of it, but coughs before she can get any more down.

Donovan swore under his breath. He really thought it would've been able to go down without her coughing. She couldn't starve herself, that would just make her condition worse than it already was.

It seems to be less of a problem of things making her cough than it is she keeps coughing and is at a high risk of choking when she eats.
