Look for yourself, Selie pointed Kaladin to where he could see Void.

Ajal cocked his head, "Did Rex want to teach me?"

"No, he was getting ready to claw your face off." Knuckles said in an uninterested tone.

Kaladin shied behind Selkie. "Urf...."

Ajal frowned glaring at Rex, "What did I do to you? And so you know I can defend myself pretty well."


Selkie stood in front of Kaladin, I don't think she saw us and even if she did she can't do anything to us.

"...I w-wouldn't be so s-sure..." Kaladin stammered.

"I said don't feed into it!" Knuckles groaned, holding the chao back.

Ajal looked at the chao in the eyes and growled, "I know but still I want to know why Rex wants my blood."


Why, Selkie asked, look, calm down, if you're scared you can keep watch while I do this.

"Okay, so maybe the whole 'claw your face off' thing was an exaggeration. I meant 'follow you around all passive-aggressive until he gets distracted'." Knuckles huffed, guiding the chao back to his shoulder with his hand.

"Do we have to do this...? She's right there, a-and if something happens to you I'm not sure what--..." Kaladin fretted.

Selkie put a hand on Kaladin's shoulder, Have I ever let you down before?


Ajal's ear was pinned halfway back, "Reminds of someone else I know."

Kaladin looked at the hand in surprise for a couple of seconds, then sighed. No... He muttered, somewhat abashed.

Knuckles looked up at Ajal, trying to decide whether or not he had just been stealthily insulted.

Selkie smiled reassuringly, I'll be fine.

Knuckles blinked. "...Oh. He's okay."
