The thing in the water moves. It has... tendrils? Maybe? They seem too thick to be whiskers, but too thin to be tentacles.

Drake freezes unsure of what the creature was. It wasn't a squid or octopus that was for sure. Shaking his head Drake quickly turns the boat then goes to see what the creature was. He didn't want to fight but if it was necessary, he was armed with a knife.

It raises its head, and frankly it's not what's to be expected. It's a horse. A big horse, with a mottled dark green mane and black, brown, and tan dappled fur. Horses are not generally sea creatures, so it's an odd sight to say the least.

"Kelpie," Drake asks sounding more than a little shocked. He had warned all of his life about Kelpies and to stay away from the soul stealers. Drake knew he was vulnerable in his boat in the water, but he was not going down without a fight.

Though it looks harmless, its eyes face forward- like a predator. It simply gazes at him, its eyes bi-colored gold and brown. Its head is half underwater, its eyes barely breaching the surface.

"I know what you are. I know your tricks Kelpie," Drake yells at it, "Leave me alone! I have too many people who I care about to die to your fangs!"

It doesn't react, just floating near the surface and staring.

Drake doesn't take his eyes off of the Kelpie as he steers the boat back towards the shore. At this point he didn't care how big the fine for landing on the beach* was, he cared that he would survive.


(I don't know if there is a fine for this. I'm just assuming.)

The kelpie suddenly vanishes back under the surface.

Drake looks around the water near the boat trying to spot the Kelpie again. Drake's hair on the back of his neck was standing up and he was still sensing the Kelpie too close for his liking.
