I glided down towards the hole-pocked monster, 6 inch blades flashing. Though my eyes watered and burned to the point of near blindness, I landed on its back and stabbed it repeatedly, but I knew I wasn't killing it, only annoying it. Despite this, I didn't stop. I had to get it away from the town. But I couldn't see.

The lingerer hissed and tossed Janus off, knocking out several streetlights and buildings doing so. It looked down at the fleeing townspeople and raised its claw to squish them.

"No!" I couldn't move one of my arms, and I couldn't see, but I could tell it was going for people. I blindly threw a dagger in the direction of the dragonlike monster before falling back into the dust, energy spent.

The dagger flew into one of the holes where the skin on the Lingerer was decaying, hitting muscle. Blood spurted from the wound, greenish in color. The Lingerer howled in pain before ripping out the dagger and flying upwards, a scale dropping down next to Janus before it flew away.
(I said there was gonna be gore...)
