Things happen! ^u^ I highly doubt anyone here be mad. If so they need to take a moment and realize how tricky coding is and that things that can't be explained can happen sometimes. OR can be explained, but most of us won't get it, cause again, coding is tricky stuff.

We're just thankful that the fest is still going strong and that t is even happening and is awesome. XD And I love run-on sentences! Huzzah! XD

So, it is inevitable that there are going to be a lot of leftover ingredients and special spice collectors at the end of the festival. Are there any plans to deal with these items at all, or will they be taking up space in peoples' inventories until next year?

No, no plans. Not much we can really do with it.

I'd suggest just planning accordingly before everything closes down. Such as either selling off your excess, buying others' excess to make some final pets, etc.

There's also no guarantee the ingredients will even be the same next year. It's not possible for us to plan that far ahead. =P
