(This used to be the only method to remove arrows given the time period, and it's not pleasant.)
"You'll have to push it through, break it, then pull it out." Haken mumbled.
(And that's why the Mongols wore slik armor.)

(Silk won't deflect arrows though.)

(Maybe not stretched out, but loose fitting silk would either stop arrows from penetrating the skin or at the very least make them easier to pull out.)
