By the time the pouka reaches the shore, the three of them have already crossed. The fishy creatures move under the water, but don't resurface.

The pouka hesitates for a moment, then dashed into the water towards them. Immediately, the fish creates launch from the water, screeching angrily, and attack the pouka. Within a few moments the pouka has vanished underneath the now frothing water's surface.

Very faintly, he hears singing coming from underneath the water. The movement underneath starts to still.

Soon, the water stills enough for him to see what's going on. The pouka has gone limp, awake but oddly sedate. The creatures are circling it. He can see them singing.
