Nightcloud

"Too bad," I murmured. "I'm seriously going to patrol. You better not cross my border!"
Nightcloud kept taps on her senses as she strutted out of the area.

Terror noticed Shadowclaw's lingering gaze on Nightcloud, and said loudly, "Oh, I see now. You like her, don't you?"

Shadowclaw looked at Terror murderously.

Nightcloud

My senses, high on alert picked up the conversation. I also picked up the fact that the cat didn't reply. Turning around, I grinned flippantly. "Cute. It's probably only because you're a rulebreaker. That's rule number one, I think."

Shadowclaw
"Honestly, yes, I kinda like you. But I'll bet you like me, too. After all, you did follow me."

Nightcloud

Well, that's annoying, Nightcloud thought darkly.
"You could say that," Nightcloud mused. "I do appreciate the fact that you are willing to challenge the warrior code rather than follow it blindly. I don't appreciate the fact that you're a kittypet though."
Nighcloud wasn't ready to give the cat anything more than that.

Shadowclaw immediately pounced on her, wrenching her down with ease and growling, "Don't call me kittypet. I've warned you before. This is your last warning. I will split your ears if you ever call me that again, understood?"
There was a feral rage in his voice, one that warned that he was not kidding. He was a dangerous cat.

Meanwhile, Terror had a smug look on her face. This was the Shadowclaw she knew. Shadow of BloodClan, a ruthless killer, not the usually well-tempered Shadowclaw of WillowClan.

Nightcloud

I had to admit, the kittypet had surprised me. Still, I was underneath him.

"If you don't get off of me, I will throw you off. That's much more uncomfortable for you. Besides, your friend looks very happy," Nightcloud smiled flippantly.

Shadowclaw let her up, and said to her, "She looks that way because this is how I was before I joined the Clans. Back when I was known as Shadow, a loyal and vicious warrior of BloodClan. The best, in fact. I was to be the leader. Then I saved a kit from its father. Its father was batting it back and forth like a plaything, and when I intervened, the father turned on me, and I blacked out during the fight. Once the adrenaline was gone, I looked back, to see the father in two separate pieces, the front half still alive. That was when I realized what BloodClan had done to me.
"It made me a monster. All of the cats I killed, all the crippling wounds I dealt, all landed on my conscience like a badger's paw. I realized that I could not remain there, and so, I left, even though the leader at the time was almost dead from a deep wound in his shoulder that had soured.
"I left everything I had ever known, and wandered deep into the forest, not knowing where I was or how to hunt there, anything. I was helpless. A patrol happened to find me, and tried to fight me off, but I was too weak to even walk anymore. The took me back to Willowclan, and the rest is history.
"So, as you can see, I still have not mastered my rage. But I will never let it control me to the point where all I do is kill everything."

Nightcloud

Nightcloud was temporarily speechless.
But only for a moment. Any longer would be considered a weakness.
"Oh," Nightcloud murmured. Scolding herself for the weak tone, Nightcloud tried again. "Well, thanks for the personal story. But as a warrior, you will have to fight. Kill too. You can't feel sorry for everything. That's a life lesson."
Nightcloud performed the sardonic grin she had spent a week practicing as an apprentice, "Too bad for you!"
