Sebastian leaned against the window of the carriage and half-closed his eyes, watching the thestrals. Maybe he could go feed them after the welcoming ceremony. He liked their company.

"I told you, they're nothing, just a silly joke," Sebastian said, and then realized there was no point. If she didn't learn it from him, someone else would tell her. He sat up and looked down at his hands. "Well actually they're the creatures that pull the carriages."
