trying to progress from the second to the third one (astryl's vale) and clicking on ethernia, the town does not seem to work, instead I get redirected to the festival zone. (I attempted a direct link, with some very strange results, help on this issue would be greatly appreciated especially with the festival extended and me still unable to purchase purple traps)

You can only be in one of the new zones at once, meaning you cannot go anywhere in the third region if you are in the festival zone. You need to leave the festival zone then go to the town.

I see.
Odd in that I could be in the other zones while still being in the festival zone, but alright I guess, that's easy to solve.

It has to do with the new explore system that hasn't been implemented across all zones yet, only the most recent ones. So right now it only applies to zones in the 3rd region and festival zones, however eventually the first 2 regions will also be under this same system.
