I suppose it is a glitch/bug that I can see pets that have been released for sale.
I have searched for Ryori for sale (and listed them by for sale price) this shows me at least 3 Ryori who have been released by their owners. The for sale price is below their picture, only when I click them I realised they were released and i could not buy them (obviously)

It isn't a bug, you just have to make sure you select the option to only show pets that are owned instead of both owned and released, which is the default it goes to.
