How do you earn dimonds

The primary way is that you buy them from the diamond shop for real money, though there's also the Currency Exchange where players can put their gold/diamonds up for trade for the other currency (typical exchange rate is 1dia=2000-2500 gold, and people most often sell their diamonds in multiples of 50)
You can also win diamonds if you manage to win in forum games during fests and events.
