(this is my first time doing this, but i've put a lot of work into the story so hopefully it will go well! to join this roleplay, just respond to the question and the story will begin! make sure to ping me every time you respond though, or i might not see it)


You blink awake slowly, shaking your head in confusion as you come to. You remember nothing of who you are or where you come from. You rise to your feet, leaning on a tree for balance. Looking around you see you are in a forest, with trees going on as far as you can see, and very little sunlight making I through the leaves. The place is covered in a soft moss, on stones, tree trunks and even exposed dirt.

You want to explore, but before you can, a strange voice speaks in your head. I know you the voice states, its a womans voice, so somber and melancholy it makes your heart ache and tears spring to your eyes. you do not know me, but I know all who enter this forest. It was beautiful, once she sighs you do not se it, but a plague falls upon my forest. I know there is kindness in your heart, will you help me?

you will not go alone. There are four elements, your species are strong enough to harness one. I will allow you to pick which element you bond with the woman explains. Before you appear four creatures; a large, muscular horse with a coal black coat and a mane of roaring flames, which snorts and stamps its foot angrily. A brown wolf like creature with thick fur and dazzling green eyes, which bore into your soul as it stares at you. A scaly creature, doglike in shape with six legs and covered in scales, which lets out a howl upon seeing you. And lastly, a dark, panther like creature shrouded in shadow, it watches you like a hawk with its massive, red eyes.

Cautiously, you approach the first creature; the horse. You reach out, trying to grab onto it to climb on it. it screams angrily, rearing up and sending you scrambling backwards as it slams its massive hooves into the dirt, looking right at you with its flame filled eyes. The message is clear; it will not bow to you, you must earn its respect, but once you have it, he will give his life for you.

Shaken, you move onto the next, the brown wolf like creature. It stares at your hand curiously as you carefully move it under the creatures snout, who gives it an exploratory lick. she is friendly, curious even. It will feed and sustain you if you are sick, she will keep you company, she is your friend.

Emboldened, you approached the six-legged dog creature, who growls when you try to pet its head. you recoil, surprised as it offers up its back to pet, looking down at you in disdain. She calls the shots, you follow her and she will lead you to success, whether for her or for you depends.

The last creature approaches you, rubbing its furry head against your leg and affectionally nibbling on your fingers. He is warm to the touch and friendly, he will protect you, he will guide you. He is playful, but you must respect his boundaries. Who do you choose?

I chose the panther like creature shrouded in shadow.

the panther grunts happily, preening and looking quite pleased at having been chosen, seemingly gloating towards the other creatures, most of which looked like they couldn't care less. "shadow, a wise choice." the woman notes, approvingly. "sadly, this is where i leave you. i bid you good luck on your quest"

as the woman's voice leaves you once again, the panther creature nudges your hand, and begins walking away from the other animals, pausing to look back at you. you glance back at the other animals, seeing the horse and six legged dog creature, circling each other. you decide to follow shadow, not wanting to get caught in the middle of that.

as you walk you start to see a light in the distance, which shadow seems to be leading you towards. you are wary, should you continue towards the light and risk meeting someone hostile, or try to go around?

I follow the light and follow shadow.

time passes, and soon noon becomes evening. the light grows closer with every step, and soon enough you can see where the light is coming from; a group of trees, with odd structures all over them and rope bridges connecting all of them in a chaotic network. in the middle of a clearing there is a large bonfire, and though there is evidence that people were here recently, the place is abandoned. do you investigate or move on?

I investigate the place to see why it is abandoned.

you approach the clearing, following a happy shadow as he prances towards the bonfire, helping himself to a few abandoned plates of food. as you step foot into the clearing, you hear a loud, angry, war cry.

you are surrounded in people with blue skin, large yellow eyes, and white hair. they have long ears, so much longer than human ears. they point sharpened sticks at you, hissing and growling amongst themselves in a foreign language, casting glances between you and shadow.

there is much hissing and growling before one speaks up in english. "state your purpose for being here" she snaps, she is tall, slightly taller than you. unlike the others, her ears are pierced, with three thin, golden hoops in each ear near the tip no bigger than a ring that goes on your finger.

shadow does not seem interested in your predicament, happily sticking his nose in one of the mugs of drink left with the food. "well?" she asks, impatiently jabbing her stick at you.

"I just want to know what is going on here," I said to the lady.
