I can't seem to figure it out....I'm trying to sell/release some pets in my stables

If you mean equipment or costumes, you have to go to your inventory, then switch to the equipment tab, then select your pet in the drop down under the equipment window, then click on the piece of equipment/costume, then click on an empty space in your equipment window. Do that for each piece of equipment/costume/pet you want to take stuff off of ^.^
