New RP idea! hope it works out

On their 14th birthday, everyone has a dream about a specific animal. That next morning, a tattoo of that animal appears on their skin, however, the tattoo is basically alive. It has its own personality, moves around on the person, and it is the person's responsibility to give them a name since not doing so risks never unlocking the pair's full potential. Each person can shapeshift into the animal from their dream/tattoo, and only that animal.
Flashback to 100 years earlier. The first times the tattoos appeared for people. No one older than 14 received one, not everyone who turned 14 received one, and. no one knows the cause. Most of the teens who received a companion, as they came to be known ended up running away from or kicked out of their homes for "disobeying" a parent who had told them no tattoos, even though they'd had no choice. A wandering group of these kids start to form, searching out and taking in those who are forced to leave their home as a result of the strange tattoos.
After a couple of years, the government got involved. There were reports from families of teens who had gotten one of these mysterious tattoos about the tattoo moving, changing. They started investigating, taking in anyone with the moving tattoos they can find. The wandering group of teens now works to protect each other and any teens who recently got their tattoo from the government.
You just had a fight with your parents, on your birthday no less. You don't know where the tattoo came from, you know you didn't go out and get it, but they don't believe you. suddenly, as you sit on your bed, trying to understand what happened, there comes a knocking at your window. A girl, not much older than you stands outside and begins to explain what seems to be happening.

For appearances, you can add a picture or just describe them.
No older than 16. 2 years before the RP setting is when people started having the tattoos appear
You can make a younger character, but you must have at least 1 who is 14 to 16. A younger character must have a good reason for joining the group, (i.e. an older sibling has a companion) and WILL end up with their own companion when they're older
a person can ONLY shift into their companion. When doing so, they essentially become their companion for the duration
the companions can interact with anything drawn on the person while in tattoo form. this is important as the companions require food like their humans, and it's often easiest to draw food for them. this does sustain them perfectly well.

Companion/shifted Personality Fiercely loyal, and will fight to the death for Asuriel and her friends, but also sweet and often quiet. Asuriel will draw books and scrolls for her to read

Sexuality:Bi but prefers boys over girls
Personality: Annie is nice, loyal, quiet, but she can be very aggressive and sassy sometimes, its a trait that runs threw her family i guess, but she try's not to show it, its very hard to gain her loyalty but when you do she will be very protective of them but once you break that bond it will be harder to gain it back.

So, in case it wasn't clear, they appear as a tattoo when the person hasn't shape shifted, so they would be somewhere on the person's body, however, if you want to say she appeared with a tree as part of the tattoo, that is fine. otherwise, you're good!
