City's may seem like tamed ground, but you haven't seen them through the eyes of our favorite furry, scaly, and feathered friends. The concrete jungle has it's own laws and dangers, that humans are unaware of. For when they come home thier furry friends are right where the left them. Yet even in thier own backyard a pet is only one paw step away from the wild.

Name: Mao Black (known as Blackie by his owner)

Species: cat

Gender: male

Appearance: Pitch black fur and bright green eyes. Has a red collar.

Age Group: Adult

Personality: Fierce and intelligent. Almost fearless. Gruff at first, but has a caring side once you get to know him. Is protective and extremely loyal to those whom he trusts.

Skills: Night vision, Excellent hearing, sensitive whiskers, speed, agility, stealth, climbing, (your basic talents all cats posses) felinejitsu (a four legged version of martial arts.) Nine lives? (Do cats really have nine lives, who knows. They certainly aren't telling...why, because they are cats.)

Likes: sleuthing, stalking, fish, justice, fuzzy mouse toys. Climbing. The little fedora his owner made him for a funny pet picture contest. (Obviously his owner does not know about his feline furballs private eye capers)

Dislikes: wrong doers (both pet and human), smelly socks. Dogs who chase cats, animal control officers.

Fears: Only one, ferrets. (Would never admit it and is rather ashamed of his fear).

Owner: Detective Sam Steven's.

Other: Was attacked by a ferret when he was a kitten and driven from his home. Picked up by animal control and sent to the pound. Rescued by his owner to whom he is very loyal.

Detective Sam Steven's bustled about his apartment getting ready for the day. He was unaware that he was being stalked. Piercing green eyes followed his every move. As he put his dishes in the sink the detective caught a glimpse of a dark flash. Chuckling his hand reached into his pocket. He waited until he was sure his assailant was closing in before he turned and tossed the object into the air. There was a flash of black fur and a fierce yowl. In a trice a black tomcat was rolling on the floor biting and clawing at the fluffy toy mouse he had caught midair.

After a few moments of tussle the feline sat up seemingly proud of the mouse he had just "killed". Sam laughed at the smug look of his small furry companion. "Well done Blackie you have defended our home from that fierce and terrible Moriarty Mouse." The dark furred feline purred at his owner and squeezed his eyelids in a pleased manner common to house cats. Bending down the human scratched his ears. "Be a good boy while I'm gone okay." Sam grabbed his hat and coat and headed out the door.

Mao Black, known as Blackie to his human watched from the window as his human walked down the street. Once he was out of sight the black tomcat padded into the bedroom. He leapt onto the dresser and used one small furry paw to nudge a drawer open. Rummaging inside he pulled out a small felt fedora. Carrying said treasure in his teeth he padded through the house and out the pet door. Looking around his yard he suddenly flipped the hat up so it landed between his ears. Mao smiled to himself time to get to work and see what the day brings.

Alex jumped to her owners alarm clock, She sat up on her tiny perch that was hung in the corner of the room. She was ready for the day but Vania wasnt she turned off the alarm and rolled over and thats when alexa comes in. She aimed her body towards the bed her wings up and ready for take off '3...2...1' she said in her mind taking off and landing on her owner bouncing up and down like a chicken with its head cut off.

"okay okay okay" Vania groand from under the blanket "im up" she sat up in bed and petted the back of vania smiling "good morning alex" she said getting out the bed and getting some bird seed from the drawer. She knew that vania would find her own meal but put it in her bowl just in case. She got dressed and ready for school. Vanias mom called her from downstairs and told her she was going to be late. Vania opened her window for alex and kissed her beak before taking off to the school bus alex watched till her bus was out of sight ready for the adventures that will come to her today.

Mao trotted down the back alley ways of town. Beneath the porches of unassuming shops lay a mass of different clubs and venues. Everything from the Bow Wow lodge and Nine Lives club, not to mention Cheese Tasters Anonymous. To the less up scale Whisker petfood eatery and the Beantoes Fish shop. The scent made him pause for a moment. However as he'd already had breakfast he decided to move on. His own so called office was beneath the police annex next to the Wild Ones Grill. It wasn't a bad place mind you, if you didnt mind the more exotic menu. Usually including small birds like sparrows, mice, fish, and occasionally small lizards, none of them pet species.

Mao never ordered the mice dishes, for two reasons. One he had never cared for the taste of mouse, and two with the number of pet mice in the city it was bad for buisness to be eating potential clientele. However that did not extend to the toy mice his human was fond of buying for him. Mao whisked around a partition to his own little corner. A decent place right under the floor boards of the police chiefs office. Mao settled down on the old throw pillow that served as his seat.

There was a rustle in the corner. Mao swivled his ears before meowing his greeting, "Morning Ginny".

His Guinea Pig secretary bustled out of the wall tunnels she used, "Morning Mr. Black.

"Any cases come in this morning?" Mao asked.

Ginny shook her head, "None as of yet sir, but the day is still young."

Mao nodded and settled a little more comfortably. He usually hung out here for an hour or two before patrolling the streets looking for cases. Sometimes the cases came from above. Just because the police did not take missing pet cases seriously did not me Mao didnt. However it seemed pretty quiet this morning.

Waiting for over a day for a return post only to realize I forgot to ping for said post. I feel rather silly now.

Alex hopped on her window looked at her surroundings, She hopped out and perched on a rail before taking off to find food

Despite trying to get comfortable Mao felt restless. Finally he sighed and stood up and stretched. "Think I'll take a quick stroll around town. Maybe check in with Brutus."

Ginny just waved a small paw, "Enjoy your stroll boss and say hi to Brutus for me." Mao nodded. Before padding off. Ginny rarely left the building. With all the birds of prey in the city she preferred to stay under cover. Mao had made it clear to the district that she was off the menu, however it was wise not to take chances.

As for Brutus he was the main police dog around this part of the city. He mostly worked with his human partner, but was more than willing to pass along Intel on pet cases he picked up. He was usually to busy with human cases to deal with the problems of his fellow pets, though he was willing to lend a paw with taking down lawbreakers. The big German Shepard also had a sense of smell that wouldn't quit. His human usually patrolled around the school district this time of day. Mao nodded silently to himself before setting off to find them.
