A long time ago, all the light vanished. Nobody living now was around to happen; it was many, many lifetimes ago. The world has been in darkness for over a million years, and all the various beings in the world have adjusted to the eternal night. For a long time, this everlasting darkness hasn't caused any issues; everyone's used to it, and there's plenty of bioluminescent light for the few remaining species who have retained their vision.
Now, however, light threatens this quiet, dark world. A brightness that could wipe out their whole world, and change it forever in all the worst possible ways. A violent, awful change, that would destroy the livelihoods of all the beings in the world.
The Shade Beings:
Wyverns- A four-armed race of humanoid, snaky dragon creatures. They use echolocation to navigate, and are completely blind as they don't need sight when their world is so dark. They have an extremely venomous bite, but are herbivores and their venom is only for defense.
Ekeyres- A species reminiscent of centuars, but with the bottom half of a gigantic spider. They have a pair of antennae on their heads, and the 'hair' on their heads is actually the same kind of hair as whiskers. They have a pair of feathered wings, but rarely fly. They rely on the bioluminescent trees and grass in forests to see, as their eyesight is poor but they are not evolved enough to navigate in full darkness.
Sirens- A water-dwelling species of humanoids, who strongly resemble mermaids. They have strong, thick scales throughout their body, and can breathe both water and air. They find their way through a mixture of echolocation, their long whiskers, and the bioluminscent seaweed that grows in the lakes and rivers they live in.
Coatls- A rarer species of half snake, half lion creatures, with two pairs of bat wings. They use the small, rare bits of light to magnify it, allowing them to see the world as if it's in broad daylight despite it having so little light. They're considered the strongest species, and the protectors of the other three.
The Bright Beings:
Purkas- A species of tiny, fluffy cat/bunny/dog/bird creatures. They're absolutely adorable and generally harmless, except for the fact that their fur picks up any and all kinds of magic, which can lead to them becoming a serious threat incredibly quickly.
Harpies- A race of mostly human creatures, who have bird wings and talons. They are extremely fast, and their claws can be lethal at high enough speeds. They are carnivorous and have a ridiculously high metabolism; a daily healthy amount of food, for a harpy, is the same weight as their entire body.
Bycourenne- A winged equine species with a large amount of horns; it's rare for them to have less horns than ten. They have massive wings, and are immune to a large amount of poisons. They can be ridden, but this is usually seen as belittling as they're an intelligent, sapient species.
Sure. Do I just put Fern in a forest? And should I write first person point of view?

Alrighty, third person it is. And forest.)
Fern lowered her head to the ground, letting out a call and navigating her way forward.

The echoes warn her of a tree she's about to walk into, and a rock she risks tripping on. It also reveals another wvyern nearby, though they likely won't bother her.

Fern moved to the side and made sure to tap the ground before her with a wing so that she wouldn't hit the rock. But she wasn't concerned about the other wvyern bothering her.

Other than the normal obstacles, not much really stands out to her. Quite a lot of shades live in this area, so honestly its surprising theres only one wyvern nearby.
