And why? Because I just went to the last few pages of Artwork Trades and found all of the threads there were locked.

Any threads that haven't had a post for six months get locked. As for why: probably so that people aren't posting on threads that will never get responses because the thread creator is gone/isn't using that thread anymore.
If the thread owner wants to continue using the thread after it gets locked, they can just PM Krinadon with a link to the thread and ask him to unlock it for them.
