I used to play this site so much as a kid during the huge Neo craze, even still have my copy of the Darkest Faerie PS2 game and a few Lupe and Gelert plushies from promos still hanging around my room.
I think they were after one of the UC faerie pets and the mutant Jetsam I had because the account itself is still oddly up but those two pets are missing and my entire shop was cleared out and replaced by like random numbers. Wasn't able to recover it since I've since moved from my home state so IP wasn't matching up.

Kinda disappointing honestly but at least I'm not far off from my childhood dream pets now considering I got a pirate Draik super easily and my Cybunny is about to eat a Darigan paintbrush. Only missing mutant Lupe and maybe a faerie Kougra since grey pets kinds got.. ungreyed? XD

I kinda just play for dailies when I remember the site exists because I feel like the devs have more or less abandoned it now. Supposed to be coming to mobile and that might drag me back but still have yet to see it.
I really don't like the direction it's gone even though I still love it and it's made me kinda move to other pet sites (like here!)

I spend most my time Leveling NathanMark for Battles, collecting neopoints for Battle gear and Doing the Dailies.
But I agree with you about the direction the Site has gone in the last few years or so.I
And I really love this Site because your not Limited on how many Pets you can have as well has you can Breed Pets. There's so much more to do here than Neopets but I think Neopets is really designed young kids. And this Site for Adults.
I'll always keep my Neopets. It is my first love after all. Lol

Neo definitely was aimed at kids.. like 10 years ago
Most of the players still with it are well into adulthood now and it's funny to me seeing that the site hasn't really changed at all to reflect that or try to modernize at all.
